Senator Fannin of Arizona was one of several congressmen seen driving this rather odd-looking car around the capitol plaza this morning. ...actually it's eclectic car built by the copper industry Senator Baker of Tennessee came out for a look...a few others--mostly tourists--were curious...and the usual quota of cameraman were there...to stare at and take pictures of this latest electric car ... What makes this one different from a rash of other battery run cars...is its range, speed and acceleration. Its makes claim it will go as far as 150 miles...as fast as 70 miles an hour...accelerate from zero to 40 in ten seconds...and all this while cutting down on pollution. A spokesman said the only thing needed now were more places a driver could recharge the battery. And that, he pointed out was just like the gas station problems for the first internal combustion cars.
In the effort to cut down on exhaust-fume pollution, research is underway on cars powered by battery or steam. One of the latest of the battery-powered variety was on display in washington today.
