  • Description

A NEW "EXECUTIVE" TYPE AIRCRAFT WITH AN ENGINE AT THE TAIL AS WELL AS IN THE NOSE WAS DEMONSTRATED YESTERDAY (WEDNESDAY) BY SUD-AVIATION AT TOUSSUS LE NOBLE AIRPORT, NEAR PARIS. CALLED THE MOYNET M. 360 JUPITER, THE PLANE HAS BEEN DESIGNATED WITH AN EYE ON SAFETY IN ADDITION TO HIGH PERFORMANCE.

THE NEW FRENCH 'PLANE HAS A MAXIMUM CRUISING SPEED OF 234 MILES PER HOUR, BUT ITS STALLING SPEED IS PARTICULARLY LOW -- ONLY 78 M.P.H. THE JUPITER IS ABLE TO FLY ON EITHER OF ITS ENGINES FROM DEPARTURE TO ARRIVAL. WHERE CONVENTIONAL TWIN-ENGINED AIRCRAFT CAN TURN SAFELY ONLY IN ONE DIRECTION, THE JUPITER IS ABLE TO TURN EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT WITH EQUAL SAFETY, AND IS EASY TO CONTROL BECAUSE THERE IS NO "YAW."
THE JUPITER IS CONTROLLED IN THE SAME WAY AS A SINGLE-ENGINED AIRCRAFT, SO THAT THE PILOT DOES NOT NEED TWIN-ENGINE QUALIFICATIONS TO FLY IT. TWO VERSIONS OF THE JUPITER HAVE BEEN PRODUCED, A FOUR-SEATER AND A SIX-SEATER, BOTH POWERED BY LYCOMING ENGINES.

THE MAKERS DESCRIBE THE JUPITER AS A PIONEER IN THE AERONAUTICAL FIELD.
