    RESCUE TEAMS AT HAZLETON, PENNSYLVANIA, TODAY (THURSDAY) AGAIN FAILED TO REACH THREE MINERS WHO HAVE NOW BEEN TRAPPED UNDERGROUND FOR NINE DAYS SINCE A FALL LAST THURSDAY.DRILLING AN ESCAPE HOLE THROUGH 331 FEET (98 METRES) OF HARD ROCK, RESCUERS TODAY MISSED THE MEN.A PREVIOUS ATTEMPT HAD BEEN ABANDONED BECAUSE OF A THREATENED CAVE-IN.

    HOWEVER, THE UNDERGOING CHAMBER WHERE THE MINERS ARE ENTOMBED HAS BEEN REACHED WITH A 6-INCH (15 CMS) HOLE, THROUGH WHICH FOOD, MEDICINE AND CLOTHING HAVE BEEN PASSED.THE MINERS ALSO HAVE A MICROPHONE THROUGH WHICH ONE OF THEM, DAVID FELLIN -- THE MINE'S CO-OWNER -- HAS BEEN HELPING TO DIRECT RESCUE OPERATIONS.HIS VOICE IS AMPLIFIED TO WORKERS ABOVE THROUGH A LOUDSPEAKER:
    TWO OF THE MINERS, DAVID FELLIN, 58, AND HENRY THRONE, 28, ARE TRAPPED IN ONE SPOT TOGETHER.THE THIRD MAN, LOUIS BOVA, 42, IS SEPARATED FROM THEM BY DEBRIS.
