    Background: Young and old flocked to the Royal Basman Palace in Amman, Sept 26, to hand in petitions, state claims or make verbal complaints to King Hussein of Jordan, who has reserved Mondays for the hearing of grievances of the general public, admitting all Jordanian citizens.

    A Court Bulletin stated: "This step has been taken to enable the King to be better acquainted with citizens' conditions and to hear their requests and petitions."
    King Hussein has taken over this administrative duty from the Prime Minister. The deceased Premier Hazza Majali fell victim to a bomb incident in Amman, Aug 29, during one of these hearings.
