Background: Sheikh Rashid bin Said al Maktum, ruler of Dubai, one of the Trucial States of the Persian Gulf, arrived in the United Kingdom on Sunday (20 July), and today (Tuesday) he went to Downing Street, London, to meet the British Prime Minister, Mr. Harold Wilson.

The Ruler of Dubai is on a four-day official visit to the United Kingdom, after which he plans to stay on in a private capacity, until August 2.

During the official part of his visit, the Ruler is scheduled to lunch with the Queen, have talks with the Prime Minister and Foreign Secretary Michael Stewart, visit the new container port at Felixstowe and the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough, and inspect the Concords supersonic airliner at Fairford.

In his private capacity he is to have meetings with a number of leading British commercial and industrial companies.

The Ruler is accompanied by the Crown Prince and a number of officials and aides from Dubai.
