  • Description

GHANA REMAIN IN THE MASTERS OF AFRICAN SOCCER. THEY RETAINED THE AFRICAN CUP WITH A 3-2 WIN OVER TUNISIA IN TUNIS YESTERDAY (SUNDAY).

IT WAS THE SECOND SUCCESSIVE YEAR THE WEST AFRICAN NATION HAD WON THE CUP. IT TOOK EXTRA TIME TO GET A RESULT. TUNISIA, TRAILING 0-1 AT HALF-TIME, LED 2-1 AFTER 67 MINUTES, BUT GHANA EQUALISED 12 MINUTES LATER AND SCORED THE WINNING GOAL IN 31 THE FIFTH MINUTE OF EXTRA TIME.

TUNISIA DID PLENTY OF ATTACKING, BUT POOR FINISHING COST THEM MANY GOOD SCORING CHANCES. BUT GHANA, COOL IN DEFENCE AND SKILFUL IN ATTACK, DESERVED THEIR WIN.

THEIR GOAL-SCORERS WERE ODEI (2) AND OSEIKOFI. CHETABLI AND CHAIBI SCORED FOR TUNISIA.

(THE TOURNAMENT WAS A TRIUMPH FOR WEST AFRICA, TAKING THREE OF THE FIRST FOUR PLACES -- THE IVORY COAST BEAT SENEGAL 1-0 FOR THIRD PLACE).
