Background: As majority of Europeans shiver in the cold winds of autumn, Paris has been the venue for the fashion designers' 1984 spring display. Models at Kimijima showed off the Japanese designer's new ideas. He centred on basic colours and most of the clothes had very angular lines and short skirts. Black and white outfits featured for day wear, but his evening dresses were bright green and pink. Muted reds and greys were used to good effect and buttons and accessories were emphasized. During the finale of the show models displayed Kimijima's idea of an evening suit - sequinned jackets and black shorts. Doby Broda's models wore even shorter skirts, and many of them wore 'Lolita'-style sunglasses. The stars of the show were long dresses - modelled like nuns' habits - but split to the thigh, Broda returned to the traditional theme, however, for his finale and featured an off-white wedding dress in satin.
