    Prime Minister of the Chinese Peoples Republic, Chou En-lai, arrived in Delhi, Apr 19, for crucial talks on the border issue between India and China. To greet him at the airport were India's Premier, Pandit Nehru, and the Mayor of Delhi who presented him with a garland of flowers. Both Prime Ministers made a speech at the airport in which they called for peace and friendship between the two nations.

    A cool but civil welcome was accorded Mr Chou En-lai as he drove through Delhi streets to the Presidential residence - "Rashtrapati Bhavan" where he will stay during the week's visit.

    A "block Flag" demonstration had been planed, by police did not allow demonstrators to approach the route. Thousands had marched through the city Apr 17, calling upon Premier Nehru to "stand firm" over the border dispute.

    On the evening of Apr 19, Mr Chou En-lai dined alone with his party. Next day he was to lay a wreath at the Ghandi memorial before beginning his session of talks with Mr Nehru.
