    April First: An exhibition of British water colour paintings opened in Peking. The exhibition was sponsored jointly by the Chinese People's Association for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and the Union of Chinese Artists.

    Chu Tu-nan, President of the Chinese People's Association for Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries and Richard Carline, Chairman of the Art Committee of the British-China friendship Association were present at the opening ceremony.

    A collection of over 150 water colour painting by British artists during the past 300 years was displayed.

    The Exhibition attracted great interest among the Peking public.
