    Stirling Moss of Britain on Cooper-Borgward won July 12 the 35-lap Grand Prix of Rouen auto race for formula-two sports over 229 kilometers in one hour 28 minutes .05 seconds at an average speed of 155.9 kilometers an hour - a course record.

    Earlier, Moss drove a two-litre Maserati to victory in the Rouen Coupe de Lamare-Debouteville race. His time for the 35-lap 229-kilometer race for two-litre-limit sports cars was 1 hour 29 minutes 40.9 seconds at an average speed of 153.2 kilometers an hour.

    Moss, last year's runner up in the drivers' world championship but so far less successful this year, led from start to finish in both races. (The Rouen Grand Prix does not count in the world championship) Then, he flew to England in a borrowed monoplane to compete in the London-Paris GBP10,000 Bleriot Anniversary Air Race.

    In the Grand Prix, Harry Schell, the Paris-based American driver, was second on Cooper-Climax, in one hour 28 minutes 36.1 seconds. Other finishers 3.-Masten Gregory, Kansas City, Cooper, 1:28:36.3. 4.-Bruce McLaren, Britain, Cooper, 1:29:16.4. 5.-Chris Bristow, Britain, Cooper-Borgward, 1:29:25.7. 6.-Maurice Trintignant, France, Cooper-Climax. 1:29:25.8. 7.-Graham Hill, Britain, Lotus, 1:28:51,9 (34 laps). 8.-Ian Burgess, Britain, Cooper-Climax, 1:28:07:8 (33laps). 9.-Gerard Laureau, France, Porsche-Behra, 1:29:11.4 (52 laps).

    Jack Brabham, the Australian who is leading in the drivers' world championship, was second to Moss until the 18th lap when he retired with gearborn trouble.

    Innes Ireland, of Britain, overturned in a Lotus and was slightly injured.

    In the Coupe de Lamare, the top finishers were Britain all on Lotus - Alan Stacey, Innes Ireland, Peter Ashdown and Douglas Graham in that order.
