    THE AIRSTRIP, WHICH WILL BE ABLE TO TAKE BOTH LIGHT AND MEDIUM AIRCRAFT, IS BEING BUILT BY MEN OF THE SEVENTH FIELD SQUADRON ROYAL AUSTRALIAN ENGINEERS AS PART OF AUSTRALIAN AID TO MALAYSIA.

    ALREADY 2,400 YARDS OF SECONDARY JUNGLE UNDER ADVERSE CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN CLEARED. LOCAL WORKERS ARE HELPING THE TROOPS.

    COSTING SEVERAL THOUSAND POUNDS, THE AIRSTRIP WILL NOT ONLY BE OF GREAT MILITARY VALUE TO SABAH, BUT WILL ALSO HELP OPEN UP THIS PART OF THE COUNTRY TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD.
