  • Description

THE 1965 GERMAN INDUSTRIAL EXHIBITION, HIGHLIGHTED BY A SPECIAL IMPORT DISPLAY "PARTNERS FOR PROGRESS" WAS OPENED IN WEST BERLIN LAST NIGHT.

A TOTAL OF 918 EXHIBITORS ARE TAKING PART THIS YEAR, NINE MORE THAN LAST YEAR. 185 EXHIBITS FROM FOREIGN COUNTRIES ARE INCLUDED.

THE EXHIBITION, REGARDED AS ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT IN THE ANNUAL WEST BERLIN SHOW PROGRAMME, WAS OPENED BY THE BRITISH PARLIAMENTARY UNDER-SECRETARY OF STATE, LORD WALSTON.

THE DISPLAY COVERS THE FULL EXHIBITION GROUND IN WEST BERLIN, AND IT PROVIDES AN EXTENSIVE PICTURE OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION IN WEST GERMANY, EXCLUDING THE MOTOR CAR INDUSTRY, WHICH TAKES PART EVERY SECOND YEAR.

THIRTY-SIX NATIONS FROM AFRICA, ASIA AND LATIN-AMERICA ARE COMBINING IN THE "PARTNERS FOR PROGRESS" SECTION, WHERE THE EMPHASIS IS ON GOODS WITH IMPORT POTENTIAL.

BELGIUM, DENMARK, FRANCE, GREAT BRITAIN, ITALY, JAPAN, THE NETHERLANDS, NORWAY, AUSTRIA, SWEDEN, SWITZERLAND, SOUTH AFRICA AND THE UNITED STATES ARE AMONG COUNTRIES REPRESENTED BY EXHIBITS ON SINGLE STANDS IN VARIOUS DISPLAY HALLS.

IN ADDITION, BRITAIN, IRAN, ITALY, CANADA, THE NETHERLANDS, AUSTRIA, AND THE UNITED STATES ARE PRESENTING COLLECTIVE DISPLAYS. IT'S THE FIRST TIME THAT IRAN HAS SPONSORED A STAND IN A WEST BERLIN EXHIBITION.

THE EXHIBITION WILL CONTINUE FOR 12 DAYS.
