Garuda Airlines the state owned company was established in 1950 from the Dutch airline company in Indonesia. Now Garuda has a fleet of 1 DC-10, 3 DC-8 (two of these are hire purchased from KIM Dutch airline Company), 9 Fokker-28 jet, 6 DC-9, and 8 Fokker-27 propeller. Garuda has a staff of 3000 employees.
The pilot of DC-10 is Captain SUDARMO has a flying hours of 15,000. He was a pilot of the Indonesian Airforce.
Garuda has a monopoly of operating jet aircraft in Indonesia. The other Indonesian Airline company are not permitted to operate jet aircraft. This DC-10 fly every Monday to Amsterdam. Since Garuda has no cash to buy DC-10, Garuda charter this DC-10 from KLM Dutch Airline Company with a special agreement; the aircraft could be painted with Garuda symbol and colour.
Later on Garuda intend to owned this aircraft.
