    THE POLICE MOVED IN TO DISPERSE A CROWD OF 200 WHO WERE SHOUTING: "PEACE IN ALGERIA", "OAS ASSASSINS" AND "FASCISM SHALL NOT PASS" ABOUT TWENTY PEOPLE WERE HURT.

    AT D'IVRY, IN THE ??? OF PARIS, ABOUT 500 DEMONSTRATORS FILED PAST THE TOWN HALL CHANTING SIMILAR SLOGANS. BUT THEY DISPERSED QUIETLY AND THERE WERE NO INCIDENTS.

    BOTH DEMONSTRATORS WERE SAID TO HAVE BEEN ORGANIZED BY THE COMMUNIST PARTY AS PART OF A 'NATIONAL DAY' FOR ALGERIA.

    THAT NIGHT HEAVY CASUALTIES IN GRAVE RIOTING WERE REPORTED FROM ORAN. THE CENTRE OF THE TOWN WAS SURROUNDED BY GENDARMES AND REPUBLIC SECURITY COMPANIES AFTER DISORDERS CAUSED BY TWO ATTACKS ON EUROPEANS. REPORTS ON THE ESTIMATES NUMBER OF DEAD VARIED BETWEEN FOUR AND 10.
