Background: South African scored a 50 points to 18 win over South America in an International Rugby Union match played in Pretoria on Saturday (27 March). Most Rugby Union followers agree the South American team would have been beaten by any competent international side. The South American team consisted entirely of Argentine players, who, while skilful in some areas made too many mistakes. The first points in the match were scored by the Springboks' Johann Heunis who kicked a penalty goal. The first try also went to the Springboks when Oosthuigen crossed the line to finish off a movement that started from a scrum. The Springboks scored 8 tries. Three were scored by centre Danie Gerber, and 2 by Ray Mordt. South America's only try came from their winger, Puccio, while captain Hugo Porta kicked 4 penalty goals.
