Soccer-and West Germany has beaten Italy two-one in a friendly international in West Berlin. But it was a tight game, with the Italians unlucky to lose, coming close to forcing a draw in the closing minutes.
SYNOPSIS: Italy, in the dark shirts, playing left to right, kicked off-and kept the ball for the opening minutes of the game.
Italian keeper Dino Zoff was almost unemployed while Italy kept attacking.
West Germany's Manfred Kaltz was the first to open the scoring after picking up a corner in the 32nd minute. Germany one, Italy nil-but that's how it stayed for the rest of the first half.

However, the Italiankeeper was beaten again in the 58th minute when German number seven, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, put one in.
Stung, Italy retaliated in the 75th minute. The scorer-Giancarlo Antognoni. But despite continuing the pressure, the score stayed at two-one to the final whistle.
