    Alhaji Abu Wemah, Commissioner for Secretariats and Departments under Ghana's National Liberation Council's was decorated on Friday (11 July) with the Order, First Class, of the United Arab Republic, the U.A.R.'s highest award, at a ceremony at the U.A.R. Ambassador's residence in Accra.

    Alhaji Abu Wemah was Ghana's Ambassador to the United Arab Republic from July 1966 to November 1968.

    Mrs. Alice Yakubu, wife of Mr. B.A. Yakubu, Commissioner of Police Administration, decorated Mr. Wemah with the sash and medal. Mr. Yakubu presented the Commissioner with the citation accompanying the award.

    The U.A.R. Ambassador, Mr. Abdel Azim el-Mourst, said the decoration was in appreciation of Alhaji Wemah's efforts in promoting cordial relations between Ghana and the U.A.R. during his tenure of office as Ambassador.

    The award is given to diplomats who have served with distinction in the U.A.R.
