Background: The ten top Badminton players from The People's Republic of China, who arrived in Britain this week, played their first of four international matches in London on Tuesday (16 January). China's prowess at Badminton was abundantly proved when they beat England 5 - 2.

The Chinese team showed great skill and agility in defeating the English team, which may make them a major threat to Malaysia and Indonesia's long established superiority in the game.

The Chinese are ow to international Badminton competition -- for most of the team members this was the first trip outside their country. As well as competing in the four scheduled matches in Britain, the team members intend to promote British-Chinese friendship on their tour.

SYNOPSIS: At Crystal Palace Stadium in London, on Tuesday, the ten-member Badminton team from The People's Republic of China arrived for a practice session, before their first match against England.

The Chinese team is scheduled to play four international matches while in Britain. For most of the team members, this is their first trip outside China.

In their practice session, the Chinese players showed the skill and agility that helped them defeat the English team five-two that evening... While the Chinese are new to international Badminton competition, they are already regarded as a serious threat to the long established superiority of the teams from Malaysia and Indonesia... The four women and six men in the team have another reason for their trip -- they hope to promote friendship between China and Britain.
