Background: THE BULGARIAN AUTHOR, ANDREI GULYASHKI, MET THE PRESS AT A RECEPTION AT THE BULGARIAN EMBASSY IN LONDON TODAY (TUESDAY). HE IS IN BRITAIN FOR A MEETING WITH HIS ENGLISH PUBLISHERS, WHO WILL SOON BRING OUT HIS LATEST BOOK, IN WHICH HIS BULGARIAN COUNTER-ESPIONAGE STAR WILL MEET THE WEST'S JAMES BOND, AGENT 007 IN IAN FLEMING'S FAMOUS NOVELS.

MR. GULYASHKI TOLD THE RECEPTION THAT THE CHARACTER INVENTED BY IAN FLEMING WAS A MAN WITH NO IDEALS WHO BELIEVED IN NOTHING EXCEPT THE LIBERTY TO KILL, TO SATISFY HIS INSTINCTS AND TO ACHIEVE BY ANY MEANS THE TASKS HIS SUPERIORS SET HIM.

HIS OWN HERO, AGENT AVAKOUM ZAHOV, WAS STRUGGLING FOR THE PRESERVATION OF A NEW SOCIAL ORDER HE BELIEVED IN, WITH HIS INTELLECT AS HIS ONLY WEAPON. BUT MR. GULYASHKI ADDED THAT JAMES BOND WAS ALSO A STRONG MAN, AND THE NEW BOOK WOULD GIVE HIM THE ADVANTAGE OF COMPLETE OBJECTIVITY. "I WANT THE STRONGER TO WIN," SAID MR. GULYASHKI. WHO THAT WILL BE, ONLY THE BOOK WILL REVEAL.

THE BULGARIAN AUTHOR HAS HAD HIS NOVELS TRANSLATED INTO 13 LANGUAGES, AND HAS AWARDED HIS COUNTRY'S TOP LITERARY HONOURS. AT THE RECEPTION HE MET MRS MERCIA MACDERMOTT, CHAIRMAN OF THE SOCIETY FOR FRIENDSHIP WITH BULGARIA.
