The United Nations Under-Secretary General Mr. Brian Urquhart has been inspecting the situation following the failure of the Lebanese Government to establish its authority in the ???region.
SYNOPSIS: United Nations troops replaced israeli units in South Lebanon to smooth the way for the Lebanese Army. But a Lebanese battalion moving towards the area was stopped by the Christian militia. Now the United Nations mandate is running out. After his inspection, Mr. Urquhart spoke to reporters.
In Israel, members of the government's Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee have also discussed the stalemate. The Committee's chairman Mr. Moshe Arrens stated his attitude to the United Nations presence.
