    ON THEIR ARRIVAL AT THE KUCHING AIRPORT, MEMBERS OF THE DELEGATION WERE MET BY THE DEPUTY CHIEF MINISTER OF SARAWAK, MR.JAMES WONG OTHER GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND MR.ONG KHEE HUI, LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION.

    AT A PRESS CONFERENCE, MR.WHITLAM SAID HE FAVOURED CLOSER TIES BETWEEN THE DEMOCRATIC SOCIALIST PARTIES IN MALAYSIA AND THE AUSTRALIAN LABOUR PARTY.HE ALSO MENTIONED THE COMING VISIT OF SEVEN OTHER LABOUR PARTY OFFICIALS TO MALAYSIA IN SEPTEMBER AT THE INVITATION OF THE SINGAPORE PRIME MINISTER, MR.LEE KUAN YEW.MR.WHITLAM ALSO REAFFIRMED THERE WOULD BE NO CHANGE IN AUSTRALIA'S POLICY OF ECONOMIC AND MILITARY SUPPORT FOR MALAYSIA IN THE LABOUR PARTY WON THE 1966 AUSTRALIAN GENERAL ELECTIONS.

    SINCE THEIR ARRIVAL IN MALAYSIA IN EARLY JULY, MEMBERS OF THE DELEGATION HAVE HAD FREE AND FRANK DISCUSSIONS WITH THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT MINISTERS AND MILITARY OFFICIALS AS WELL AS LEADERS OF OPPOSITION PARTIES IN SINGAPORE AND MALAYA.
