    Arab Information ministers meeting in Cairo on Saturday (26 Feb) condemned Israeli attacks on the South Lebanon.

    In a message to the Lebanese President, Mr Suleiman Frenjich, the ministers expressed admiration for his country's stand against what they described as "treacherous Israeli aggression".

    The conference of Arab Information Officers was opened by the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Mr Abdel Hassouna.

    He called on Arab information media to give all the facts relating to the Arab-Israeli conflict, and added that his was the only way to win world public opinion to the Arab side.

    SYNOPSIS: The Arab League Building in Cairo was the venus on Saturday of a conference of Arab Information Ministers. Their meeting coincided with news of Israeli land and air attacks on targets in South Lebanon - and the ministers voted to condemn the attacks as "treacherous Israeli aggression". The ministers also decided to send the Lebanese president a message expressing admiration for his country's stand against Israel.

    The talks were chaired by Dr. Abdel Kadar Hatem - Egypt's deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Information. He said the aim of the meeting was to reach and adopt the right information policy. he urged information chiefs to learn the lessons of the past and make sure information supplied was "honest, wise and effective". The opening session of the meeting was also addressed by the Arab League's Secretary-General Mr Abdel Hassouna - who said that only by giving all the facts could the Arabs win world opinion to their side.
