    MR. J.W.D. HARLLEY, VICE-CHAIRMAN OF GHANA'S NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL AND INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE, LAST FRIDAY (5 APRIL) CALLED ON ALL GHANIANS TO MAKE THE 1970 CENSUS MORE SUCCESSFUL THAN THE ONE HELD IN 1960. MR. HARLLEY WAS ADDRESSING THE INAUGURAL MEETING OF THE CENTRAL CENSUS COMMITTEE IN ACCRA.

    MR. HARLLEY SAID THAT THE 1960 CENSUS MARKED A GREAT ADVANCE IN THE FIELD OF STATISTICAL DATA COLLECTION IN GHANA. HE TOLD THE DISTINGUISHED AUDIENCE THAT THE 1960 CENSUS WAS SO SUCCESSFUL THAT THE 1960 GHANA CENSUS PUBLICATION HAD BEEN RECOMMENDED TO A NUMBER OF DEVELOPING NATIONS BY UNITED NATIONS AGENCIES.

    THE INAUGURAL MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE WAS HELD AT THE POLICE HEADQUARTERS IN ACCRA. MR. HARLLEY SPOKE ABOUT THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE 1970 CENSUS.
