To help German voluntary workers in African to get to know the country better. The Association of german Catholic Volunteers are holding ton-day seminars. The first for volunteers working in West Africa ended at Benin University in Lome, Togo, last Friday (August 31).
Dr. Otte, a lecturer on African Affairs and Sociology at Cologne University in Cologne University in Germany organised the course. Dr. Otte, who also lectures at Benin University, said Europeans were taught hardly anything about the African continent and its people so voluntary workers had great difficulty in adapting.
Mr. Michel Ayi, Togo's High Commissioner of Tourism, welcomed the volunteers, who are mainly doctors, male nurses and advisers.
The meetings are held every two years in togo. Anther seminar for German social workers in Central Africa is scheduled to take place in Yaounde, Cameroon.
