    Negotiations in Detroit between the United Auto Workers and Ford Motor officials have recessed so the company can study a union proposal for binding arbitration. U-A-W President Walter Reuther said if this were accepted...a midnight strike could be avoided. Meanwhile, Ford workers continue their preparations for a strike. In Chicago, U-A-W members checked picket rosters at the local union hall. There are more than 72-hundred workers employed at Ford plants in the Chicago area. Picket signs have been prepared and members are ready to carry out an around-the-clock picket line operation beginning at midnight.
