    THIRTY TWO RIDERS, FROM BRITAIN, SWEDEN, EAST GERMANY, THE SOVIET UNION, CZECHOSLOVAKIA, BELGIUM AND THE NETHERLANDS COMPETED IN THE EVENT.

    THE SURPRISE OF THE RACE WAS THE FAILURE OF THE EAST GERMAN RIDER PAUL FRIEDRICHS TO GAIN A PLACE. FRIEDRICHS IS THE PRESENT WORLD MOTORCROSS CHAMPION.

    ROGER DECOSTER OF BELGIUM, RIDING A C.Z. WAS PLACED SECOND, AHEAD OF VIC EASTWOOD, THE PROMINENT BRITISH RIDER. DECOSTER RECORDED A BETTER AGGREGATE TIME THAN EASTWOOD.

    ROLF TIBBLIN, OF SWEDEN, WAS FOURTH ON A C.Z., AND C.Z. MACHINES ALSO TOOK FIFTH AND SIXTH PLACINGS.

    THE RACE WAS OVER THIRTY FIVE MINUTES THAN TWO LAPS OF THE CIRCUIT.
