    THE GHANAIAN COMMISSIONER FOR FINANCE, BRIGADIER AFRIFA, HAS BEEN MAKING AN INSPECTION OF SEVERAL PROJECTS IN KUMASI, FINANCED BY THE GHANA NATIONAL INVESTMENT BANK.

    THE BANK HAS MADE GRANTS TOTALLING SEVERAL MILLION NEW CEDIS FOR VARIOUS INDUSTRIAL CONCERNS.

    THE FIBRE BAG MANUFACTURING CORPORATION, WHICH THE COMMISSIONER VISITED FIRST, RECEIVED A LOAN OF MORE THAN ONE MILLION NEW CEDIS IN 1964 FOR DEVELOPMENT. A FURTHER FOUR MILLION NEW CEDIS HAS BEEN GUARANTEED BY THE INVESTMENT BANK.

    THE CORPORATION PRODUCES MORE THAN 8-MILLION FIBRE BAGS EACH YEAR. IT PLANS TO INCREASE PRODUCTION to 12-MILLION BAGS A YEAR SOON, SUPPLYING ALL THE COCOA BAGS NEEDED BY THE COCOA MARKETING BOARD. AT PRESENT RAW MATERIALS FOR THE FACTORY ARE IMPORTED FROM PAKISTAN, BUT PLANS ARE UNDERWAY TO INCREASE HOME PRODUCTION OF FIBRE MATERIAL.

    BRIGADIER AFRIFA AND HIS PARTY ALSO VISITED THE AMBASSADOR RECORDS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, WHICH PRODUCES MORE THAN 230-THOUSAND RECORDS A YEAR. IN SEPTEMBER OF LAST YEAR THE INVESTMENT BANK APPROVED A LOAN TO FINANCE THE PURCHASE OF NEW MACHINERY.
