    The avalanche which killed 12 West German skiers in a high-danger zone near the Austrian-Swiss border on Tuesday (31 December) may have been caused by one of the victims, ascending to investigators. The tragedy occurred at a place marked off with flags and a warning sign.

    The victims included an eight-year-old boy and at least six of then died as they ride a ski-lift towards a higher slope.

    Rescuers searched through Tuesday night and all of Wednesday (1 January) to uncover the 12 bodies. A police spokesman maid that when the search resumed they would be looking for "bodies, not survivors."
    A commission of investigation into the cause of the tragedy and it appeared one of the victims was skiing in the marked-off area. They cleared there West German skiers. who admitted skiing in the area.
