Background: In the big "HALL OF SPORT" IN BEOGRAD, the fights of the most outstanding wrestlers of 11 countries are being on. This International tournament, according to the participants who are taking part in, can be freely called the Informal European Championship in Wrestling.
This tournament is opened on December 13, and in the course of fours days, about 120 the most famous wrestlers in grec - roman free style are presenting the top skill and mastership.
The interest for the tournament has made the National Federations to delegate their best and outstanding wrestlers. Among them are: Soviet representative Gurevich /manyfold World and Olympic Champion/, Parfenov the bearer of golden medal from Melbourne, then Ditrich /Germany/ one of the best heavy category wrestlers of all time; Shirmayer /France/; Tcherne /Rumania/, Moysidis /Greece/ and so on.
Yugoslavia is represented by the World Vice - Champion Stevan Horvat, then by Martinovic "silver from Rome", and international fighter Simic.
We are presenting first, the fight in light category between Stevan Horvat /Yugoslavia/ wearing white sport shoes, and Kulupov /USSR/. Both of them ended the fight on the mettrasse and, since they had the same number of negative points, the International Jury decided to weight both the fighters, but incidentally they both weighted 69 kilograms and 150 grammes. That was the reason why the Jury proclaimed both fighters for winners.
In the second fight /fly-category/ Marinkog /Yugosolaviy/ and Radich /Hungary/ met. The latter can be recognized by his national amblem and white laces. In this case as well it was the weighting - machine which decided who was the winner: it was Marinkov.
The fight in grec - roman style was ended by match between two giants: Ditrich /Germany/ 110 kilograms and Kozma /Hungary/ 136 kilograms. The latter wore white stocking. They had the same score too, so it was the scales again which decided the victory, this time in the favour of Ditrich.
The following results are: Horvat /Yugoslavia/ first, Simic /Yugos./ second, Marinkov /Yugoslavia/, Dora /Yugoslavia/, and Martinovic /Yugos./ third. The Soviet wrestlers won first six places and one third place.
In victory ceremony we see first Horvat and Kulupov and then the giants Ditrich and Kozma.
