  • Description

Design models of ships rolling and pitching amid scientifically produced and controlled miniature waves were shown to Queen Juliana of the Netherlands when she visited the "Seakeeping Laboratory" of the famous Dutch "Ship Model Basin" laboratories at Wageningen, Holland, March 21.

In the great laboratories, used by shipping companies and designers from many countries for experiments to ensure that their ships are designed to operate as economically as possible under all sea conditions, Queen Juliana also saw model being tested in smooth water tanks and the ship models themselves - some of them up to 20 feet in length - being made from paraffin wax.
