  • Description

Soccer ... and in Ghana on Sunday (6 November) the Accra team Hearts of Oak defeated Mufulira Wanderers 3-0 to go through to the finals of the African Soccer Champions CUP. Hearts of Dak needed three goals to qualify after losing the first away leg of the semi-final to Wanderers by a score of 5-2.

SYNOPSIS: After a scoreless first half at Accra's Elwak stadium Mufulira Wanderers, wearing the all-white strip, kicked off but quickly lost possession to the home side. In the 59th minute Hearts of Oak had their first real chance when they were awarded an indirect free kick.

From the free kick it was striker Ansas Seidu who scored Hearts' first goal.

Twenty minutes later Captain Ahmed Polo was the architect of goal number two for Hearts with a through pass to Pater Lampter who slotted the ball safely home.

But time was running out and it was just two minutes from the end of the game when Hearts got the goal they needed to reach the finals.

A second goal for Ansas and clear victory for Hearts. They won 7-5 on aggregate since away goals counts double in the competition. In December's final Hearts of Oak will play Hafia of Guinea who beat Lome of Togo 2-0 in the second leg of their semifinal to qualify 3-2 on aggregate.
