Background: Political activity in the Arab world is building up, as the Arab Summit in Algiers approaches. On Saturday (November 24th), President Anwar Sadat of Egypt welcomed three Arab leaders in Cairo for preparatory talks before the Algiers Summit opens on Monday (November 26th).
Sultan Qaboos of Oman, Sheikh Zaid Ben Sultan, Chairman of the United Arab Emirates, and President Hafez Al-Assad of Syria all arrived on Saturday.
Presidents Assad and Sadat are believed to have reviewed in detail the political and military situation and discussed the joint approach Egypt and Syria will take at the summit.
President Sadat was at Cairo's Airport to welcome his visitors. The following day, Sunday (25 November) all four heads-of-state left Egypt for the Summit in Algiers.
