President Charles-DeGaulle of France ended a two-day visit to Uruguay Saturday (10 October) when he and Mrs. DeGaulle boarded the French cruiser Colbert for a three-day triP to Rio de Janeiro.
There on Tuesday (13 October) he will begin the 10th and last stage of his month-long tour of South America.
During his visit to Montevideo, DeGaulle told Uruguayan government leaders that the world must avoid being caught in a struggle between Washington and Moscow. A technical and cultural aid treaty was signed during the visit, emphasizing what has been apparent throughout the visit--the France is unable to go much beyond very limited aid to ??? America.
The sea voyage to Rio will give the 73-year-old President respite from the kind of public appearances and private talks, as well as an opportunity to attend the purely French affairs.
