  • Description

Hero of the World Cup championship, Pele of Brazil and Britain's golfer Tony Jacklin have been immortalised in was at Madame Tussaud's Hall of Fame.

Pele, star of the Brazilian World Cup team, scored the first goal against Italy at Mexico City's Aztec stadium on Sunday (June 21) to help take his team to the four-one win before a crowd of more than 100-thousand cheering Mexicans. He has scored more than one-thousand goals in professional football.

25-year-old Tony Jacklin also made his mark in the world of sport this week becoming the first Englishman to win the United States Open Golf Championship in 50 years. Jacklin's American win followed on the heels of his taking out the British Open a week earlier, after 18 years without an English champion.

Other new additions to Madame Tussaud's waxworks this week included captain of the Rest of the World cricket team, West Indian Gary Sobers, and former world champion grand prix driver Jack Brabham.
