Self-proclaimed Middle East peacemaker, Mr. Abie Nathan, has bought a cargo ship in which he plans to set up a radio station to broadcast appeals for peace throughout the Middle East. Mr. Nathan bought the 350-ton ex-coastal freighter, Cite, which was lying at anchor at Delft, north of Rotterdam.
Mr. Nathan, a 42 year old Tel Aviv restaurant-owner, flew to Holland after an unsuccessful attempt to discuss the Arab-Israeli conflict with President Nasser, said the radio would transmit in Hebrew, Arabic, French and English.
His radio ship, which is to be called the "Voice of Peace" will be anchored 12 miles off the Israeli coast. Final cost is expected to be about GBPstg. 102,000 which will be raised by committees in New York, Paris and Amsterdam.
