Background: New agreements on trade, economic and industrial co-operation have resulted from the visit of Rumania's President Nicelae Ceaucescu to Liberia during the past week. The Rumanian leader is the first head of state from a Warsaw Pact country to go to Liberia.
At the end of the two day visit, President Ceasucescu and Liberia's President William Tolbert signed a joint communique summing up the measure of agreement achieved during talks. Earlier on Monday (March 4), Liberian Finance Minister Stephen Tolbert and Mr. Ion Patan, Vice-President of the rumanian Council of Ministers, signed agreements in phineiple on trade and co-operation.
During the visit, the Rumanian guests were taken on a tour of Liberian rubber plantations and industrial installations.
