  • Description

Mr. Bertram Bloch, the son of Entebbe victim Dora Bloch, arrived in Uganda on Tuesday (29 May) to identify what is believed to be his mother's body. seventy-four-year-old dora Bloch was on an Air France flight hijacked to Uganda in July 1976. She disappeared after being admitted to hospital before Israel's spectacular raid on Entebbe and subsequent rescue of the remaining passengers and crew. Now London newspaper says it has found Mrs. Bloch's body in a shallow grave 20 miles (30 kilometres) east of the capital. And her son is there with friends and medical experts to try and identify the remains.

SYNOPSIS: Bertram Bloch, in the white suit and glasses arrived in Kampala with a pathologist. They were met by a representative of the British High Commission. Mrs Bloch was born in Britain, and the British Government have been supporting investigations into her disappearance. But the report in London's Daily Mail is the first solid lead which has been found in this two-year-old mystery.

The report said a grave was found near the village of Nakapinyi. A villager apparently pointed out a spot covered in dense bush to the Daily Mail's correspondent, and less than two feet (half a metre) away they found the remains. Police records indicate that an elderly white woman was killed in the area on July 4, 1976, and villagers say that on the same evening they heard screams, shots, and a car speeding away. The next morning they found the partially burnt body of a woman.

Mr. Bloch and his accompanying pathologist think they can identify these remains, if they show up the same spinal disease Mrs Bloch was suffering from.
