SYNOPSIS: With more than ??? dozen countries represented, this year's show has a real international theme. Among those countries showing cars here for the first time -- Britain with the medium sized Vauxhall Cavalier trying for a place on the market as a replacement for the family car.
Renault introduces its new Renault Five Automatic.
And two manufactures combine to present the Chrysler/Simca five door sedan with the name 'Horizon'.
A similar combination, the Matra/Simca Rancho will be competing with established models of four-wheel drive, on-and-off-the-road station wagons.
From Italy, the Alfa Romeo Giuletta, with an entirely new body and with all the machinery at the rear.
Visitors to the Brussels show were also treated to the world premiere of the front-wheel drive Peugeot 305 sedan. A by-product of the 304 this new model has a mainly aluminium engine.
Sweden is represented by the new Volvo, the 245 'T' station wagon.
And from the big mass-producer of cars -- Japan -- comes a three cylinder model with five gears, the Daihatsu Cuore 550. It has an 1100 c.c. engine and front wheel drive.
And the Hyundai Pony, a real hybrid. It has a Japanese-built 1200 c.c. engine by Mitsubishi, with a body designed by Giugario in Italy.
The car is assembled in South Korea.
