About 700 medical experts from four continents watched Prime Minister Abdou Diouf officially open Senegal's seventh "Medical Days" Conference in the capital city on Monday (January 11).

The "Days", first held in 1958, take the form of an extended seminar devoted to current medical and pharmacological progress. This year's theme was "Cancer in Black Africa".

Delegates from Canada, Europe, Asia and the rest of Africa will hear some 40 Papers read by leading cancer researchers during the five-day event.

The conference is being staged under the presidency of Senegal's Head of State, President Leopold Senghor.
