    A GROUP OF PEOPLE LIVING IN THE DANISH TOWN OF BORUP, ABOUT 30 MILES (48 KMS) SOUTH-WEST OF COPENHAGEN, HAVE BEEN PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS BY DIGGING AN ATOMIC BOMB SHELTER. ALL MEMBERS OF THE ORTHON RELIGIOUS SECT, THEY BELIEVE AN ATOMIC WAR WILL BREAK OUT ON CHRISTMAS EVE, AFTER WHICH A "FLYING SAUCER" WILL SWOOP DOWN FROM OUTER SPACE TO RESCUE SURVIVORS.

    THE SECT BELIEVES THAT THE ATOMIC WAS START IN KOREA OR VIETNAM AND SPREAD TO EUROPE ON CHRISTMAS DAY. THEY HAVE BUILT THE SHELTER TO PROTECT 70 PREGNANT WOMEN. ENOUGH FOOD WILL BE PLACED IN THE SHELTER FOR FOUR DAYS, BY WHICH TIME, THEY SAY, THE WOMEN WILL HAVE BEEN RESCUED BY "FLYING SAUCERS" FROM SPACE. THE SURVIVORS, THEY SAY, WILL BE BROUGHT BACK TO EARTH AFTER ONE YEAR, WHEN THE PLANET WILL HAVE BEEN OF RADIO-ACTIVITY.

    THE SHELTER IS 20 FEET (6 METRES) DEEP, 90 FEET (27M) LING AND 45 FEET (14 M) WIDE. THE ROOF WILL BE COVERED BY 25 TONS OF LEAD, TO PROVIDE A SHIELD AGAINST RADIATION, WITH FIVE FEET OF SOIL ON TOP. THE ENTIRE PROJECT IS COSTING THE ORTHON PEOPLE SOME GBP1,500 STERLING.
