    THE CHAIRMAN ON GHANA'S NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL, LIEUTENANT-GENERAL JOSEPH ANKRAH, ON THURSDAY (APRIL 4) TOLD THE WESTERN REGION HOUSE OF CHIEFS AT TAKORADI THAT ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE COMPILATION OF ELECTORAL REGISTERS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY WOULD SOON BE ANNOUNCED.

    GENERAL ANKRAH, WHO HAD EARLIER ADDRESSED THE EASTERN CENTRAL REGION HOUSES OF CHIEFS, SAID THAT THE APPOINTMENT OF AN ELECTORAL COMMISSIONER WHO WOULD UNDERTAKE THE ARRANGEMENTS FOR COMPILING ELECTORAL REGISTERS AND CONDUCTING ELECTIONS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY WOULD SOON BE ANNOUNCED.

    THE CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL TOLD THE CHIEFS THAT MEMBERS OF THE EXEMPTIONS COMMISSION WOULD ALSO BE APPOINTED WITHIN A FEW DAYS.

    GENERAL ANKRAH SAID A CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY WOULD BE APPOINTED TO PREPARE A NEW CONSTITUTION FOR GHANA. HE APPEALED TO THE CHIEFS TO GIVE SERIOUS CONSIDERATION TO THE CONSTITUTIONAL PROPOSALS SO THAT WHEN THE TIME CAME FOR THE FINAL CONSTITUTION TO BE DRAWN UP THEY WOULD BRING THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE TO HELP IN THE EXERCISE.

    GENERAL ANKRAH, WHO WAS ACCOMPANIED BY MR. J.L. NUNOO, COMMISSIONER OF POLICE (ADMINISTRATION), WAS WELCOMED BY NANA KWAW FRAIKU THE THIRD, OMAHENE OF SHAMA AND PRESIDENT OF THE HOUSE.

    CHIEF NANA KWAW FRAIKU APPEALED TO THE GHANA GOVERNMENT TO COMPLETE THE PERMANENT OFFICES OF THE WESTERN REGION HOUSE OF CHIEFS AND TO PROVIDE MORE ROADS IN THE DISTRICT.
