Background: American Chris Evert and Olga Morozova of the Soviet Union slammed their way into the final of the women's singles at the French Open Tennis Championships in Paris on Friday (14 June). both women won their semi-final matches in straight sets.

Miss Evert is favorite to take the title. She destroyed Mrs. Helga Masthoff of West Germany 7-5-,6-4. The young American won the Italian Open title earlier this month and the French title will give her a good seeding for the Wimbledon tournament at the end of June.

In the other semi-final, Miss Morozova, who was beaten in the Italian semi-finals by Miss Evert, won a one-sided match 6-3, 6-2 against Miss Raquel Giscafre of Argentina.
