Mr. Rudolph Grimes, Liberian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, presented a personal letter on Monday (17 May) to Ivory Coast president Felix Houphouet-Boigny from Liberian President William Tubman. Mr. Grimes arrived in Abidjan on Sunday (16 May) and was due to return to Monrovia, the Liberian capital, upon completion of his mission.
SYNOPSIS: Felix Houphouet-Boigny, President of the Ivory Coast, met with Mr. Rudolph Grimes, Liberian Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, at the Presidential residence in Abidjan on Monday.
Mr. Grimes presented a personal message to the Ivoirian President from Liberian president William Tubman.
Ivoirian Minister of State Auguste Denise was present.
Also attending the meeting was Arsene Assouan Usher, the Ivoirian Foreign Minister. Although the contents of President Tubman's massage to the Ivoirian President has not been revealed, the meeting is reportedly a sign of stronger relations between the two countries. The Ivory Coast is strengthening relations with Ghana, her English-speaking Eastern neighbour. Liberia is the Ivory Coast's English-speaking western neighbour.
Mr. Grimes arrived in the Ivoirian capital on Sunday and was due to return to Monrovia on completion of his mission.
