    The Council of Ministers of the European Pool and 'Euratom' held their first conference in the Academy Palace, Brussels, where the six countries represented were: France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg.

    The Presidents of the delegations were; M. Pineau (France), Von Brentano (Germany), Mr. Pella (Italy), Mr. Larock (Belgium),Mr. Luns (Holland) and Mr. Bech (Luxembourg).

    The opening ceremony was presided over by the Belgian representative who said that his country was honoured that Brussels whould have been named as a candidate for the 'Capital of Europe'. He paid homage, in his speech, to the people who had played such a big part in promoting European collective inuty; Messrs Sforza, De Gasperi, Schuman, Adenauer, Beyens and Spaak.
