    ISRAEL CLAIMED THAT ITS MIRAGE FIGHTER AIRCRAFT SHOT DOWN TWO EGYPTIAN MIG-19 JETS IN A DOG-FIGHT OVER ISRAEL TERRITORY YESTERDAY (TUESDAY). AND, ON THE GROUND, ISRAEL HAS INCREASED ITS SECURITY MEASURES-ON TRAINS LEAVING THE ISRAELI SECTOR OF JERUSALEM AFTER DARK TO PREVENT POSSIBLE SABOTAGE
    AN ISRAELI MILITARY SPOKESMAN SAID THE SOVIET-BUILT AIRCRAFT WERE KNOCKED OUT OF THE SKY BY TWO ISRAELI MIRAGE INTERCEPTORS AND WERE SEEN FALLING ON THE EGYPTIAN SIDE OF THE LINES IN THE SINAI AREA.

    THE ISRAELI SPOKESMAN SAID THAT IN A TWO-MINUTE DOG-FIGHT, ONE OF THE MIG'S WAS HIT BY AN AIR-TO-AIR MISSILE AND THE OTHER BY CANNON FIRE.

    THE ISRAELI AIR FORCE YESTERDAY RELEASED FILM WHICH, IT SAYS, WAS SHOT FROM ONE OF ITS TWO MIRAGES AND SHOWS AN EGYPTIAN MIG BEING HIT AND EXPLODING.

    EGYPTIAN OFFICIALS YESTERDAY DISCLAIMED ANY KNOWLEDGE OF A DOG-FIGHT BETWEEN THEIR MIGS AND ISRAEL MIRAGES.

    MEANWHILE, NIGHT RAIL SERVICES BETWEEN THE ISRAELI SECTOR OF JERUSALEM AND TEL AVIV HAVE BEEN RESUMED FOLLOWING A SUSPENSION SINCE OCTOBER 27TH. THAT DAY, A FREIGHT TRAIN WAS DERAILED AND A RAILWAY WORKER INJURED WHEN THE TRAIN WAS FIRED ON.

    NOW, EACH TRAIN USING THE LINE AFTER DARK IS ACCOMPANIED BY ONE BORDER POLICE UNIT TRAVELLING INSIDE THE TRAIN AND ANOTHER PRECEDING TO CHECK FOR POSSIBLE SABOTAGE.
