    THE FOURTH AND FINAL SESSION OF THE ECUMENICAL COUNCIL OF THE ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH WILL OPEN AT ST PETER'S BASILICA IN THE VATICAN CITY ON TUESDAY, AND THE INDICATIONS ARE THAT WILL BE THE LONGEST AND MOST DIFFICULT OF THE COUNCIL.

    THE ECUMENICAL COUNCIL WAS FIRST CALLED IN 1962 BY THE LATE POPE JOHN.IT HAS ELEVEN DRAFT DECREES TO CLEAR BEFORE IT CLOSES.

    AMONG THE TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED AT THIS SESSION ARE RELIGIOUS LIBERTY, MORALS, NUCLEAR WARFARE, CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION TO MILITARY SERVICE AND THE CONTROVERSIAL STATEMENT FREEING THE JEWISH PEOPLE OF THE GUILT OF DEICIDE, OR THE KILLING OF GOD.

    POPE PAUL WILL OPEN THE SESSION OF TUESDAY WITH AN ADDRESS TO THE TWO-THOUSAND CARDINALS, BISHOPS AND OTHER CHURCHMEN DUE TO ATTEND THE COUNCIL.

    WORKING SESSIONS WILL BEGIN ON WEDNESDAY, AND THESE MAY LAST AS LONG AS THREE MONTHS.

    THERE WILL BE FULL-SCALE DEBATES ON ONLY FOUR DRAFT DECREES.
