During his recent South East Asian friendship tour, Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Phan Hien, visited Singapore.
SYNOPSIS: He arrived at the airport after two days of talks in Manila which culminated in the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Philippines. Mr. Hien was accompanied by a number of senior government officials and the delegation was greeted on arrival by Singapore's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mr. K.C. Lee. Mr. Hien and his party stayed in Singapore for three days.
Mr. Hien paid courtesy calls on Singapore's Minister for Foreign Affairs Sinnathamby Rajaratnam and the Minister for Finance Sui Sen. He also held discussions with officials from both ministries. Shortly before Mr. Hien arrived in Singapore it was announced by the Vietnam News Agency that Vietnam had agreed to receive a Thai delegation next month for talks on normalising relations between the two countries.
