• Short Summary

THE FIRST DRIVE-IN BANK TO BE OPENED IN ITALY IS NOW DOING BUSINESS IN ROME.?

  • Description

THE FIRST DRIVE-IN BANK TO BE OPENED IN ITALY IS NOW DOING BUSINESS IN ROME. IT IS OPERATED BY THE BANCA NAZIONALE DELL 'ARICOLTURA.

THE BANK HAS FOUR WINDOWS. THE CUSTOMER DRIVES UP IN HIS CAR AND THE CLERK PUSHES A BUTTON RELEASING A TRAY AT ABOUT CAR-DOOR HEIGHT. THE CUSTOMER PLACES HIS CHEQUE, OR MONEY ON THE TRAY WHICH IS WITHDRAWN. THE CLERK CARRIES OUT THE NECESSARY PAPER WORK, PLACES THE CUSTOMER'S STATEMENT OR RECEIPT ON THE TRAY AND RETURNS IT TO HIM.

THE CLERK IS PROTECTED BY BULLET-PROOF GLASS. ALL-IN-ALL THE NEW BANK IS CONSIDERED SAFER THAN CONVENTIONAL BANKS. IT MEANS THAT A CUSTOMER CAN DRIVE STRAIGHT OFF AFTER DOING HIS BANKING WITHOUT ANY DANGER OF ROBBERY.

DRIVE-IN BANKS ARE ALREADY A FEATURE IN THE UNITED STATES AND IN SOME OTHER COUNTRIES -- BUT FOR ITALIANS THIS IS A NEW IDEA IN BANKING.
