NEW PIPELINES AND SIX OIL STORAGE TANKS ARE BEING BUILT AT THE MOZAMBIQUE PORT OF BEIRA. THE TANKS ARE EXPECTED TO HAVE A STORAGE CAPACITY OF 5,000 TONS OF CRUDE OIL. BEIRA IS NORMALLY USED FOR UNLOADING OIL DELIVERIES FOR RHODESIA.

THE BRITISH GOVERNMENT HAS EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT OIL SUPPLIES BEING SENT TO RHODESIA THROUGH PORTUGAL'S AFRICAN TERRITORY WHILE THE OIL EMBARGO BY BRITAIN AND THE UNITED STATES IS IN FORCE.

WORK AT BEIRA IS NEARING COMPLETION ACCORDING TO A SPOKESMAN ON THE SITE. MEANWHILE A SPOKESMAN FOR THE TRANS-ZAMBESI RAILWAY HAS SAID HIS COMPANY WILL SOON START TRANSPORTING ABOUT 60,000 GALLONS OF OIL DAILY TO ZAMBIA FROM BEIRA, THROUGH MALAWI.

TODAY (TUESDAY) THERE WAS STILL NO SIGN OF THE MYSTERIOUS TANKER REPORTEDLY DUE AT BEIRA WITH OIL SUPPLIES FOR/RHODESIA.
