    TROOPS AND A BAND FROM THE RED ARMY STATIONED IN EAST BERLIN TOOK PART. OTHER WREATHS WERE LAID BY HIGH-RANKING SOVIET OFFICERS AND DIPLOMATS. AFTER THE BAND PLAYED A REQUIEM, THE TROOPS GOOSE-STEPPED PAST THE MEMORIAL IN SALUTE. TODAY WAS THE 46TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF THE RED ARMY.
